Which is why fans of his popular truck, Crazy Taco Mex, will be happy to hear Lira has opened an eatery on Atlantic Street in Stamford.
Crazy Taco-Mex Taqueria & Tequila, open since October 2017, features many of the food truck's favorites but is much more extensive, featuring entrees like fajitas, chimichangas, burrito bowls, salads, house specialties and a variety of appetizers.
"Our food is affordable and freshly cooked with top quality meats and produce," explained Lira.
"We are traditional Mexican with a fuse of American flair."
There is also a full bar complete with margaritas, mojitos, sangrias and a 55-ounce margarita loca.
Lira, who was born in Mexico but has lived in Stamford for many years, grew up in the restaurant industry working at his uncle’s restaurant.
"I started as a dishwasher and worked my way up to general manager at a different restaurant," he said.
"When the opening for a food truck came along, I thought it was a way to start."
Crazy Taco Mex has served the Stamford area for five years and did so well, he opened a second truck a year soon after. Now, the restaurant is his new project, though the trucks are both available for private parties and corporate events.
